“The way to find out about happiness is to keep your mind on those moments when you feel most happy, when you are really happy — not excited, not just thrilled, but deeply happy. This requires a little bit of self-analysis. What is it that makes you happy? Stay with it, no matter what people tell you. This is what is called following your bliss.” -Joseph Campbell
What is your bliss?
Today when I was teaching, I totally lost track of time -poor students-... I looked up and saw the clock hand on the 9, thinking I still had thirty minutes of class to direct. It was actually time to finish... I did not know what time it was, and I was totally enjoying what I was doing... how is that for bliss at work? Being completely unaware of time and thinking you still have a half hour when actually you are done for the day???
I think it was the wild water-ocean swim I took last night that made the work so blissful today... just a thought ;)
When was the last time you followed your bliss...?
Congratulations on being such a passionate teacher and finding your bliss in that - the world needs more educators like you (and my mom - hehe)! I like what you have to say about finding what makes you truly and deeply happy, I needed this post this morning!
ReplyDeleteWild water-ocean swim....sounds utterly blissful!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, this is really making me think. Lately I've been running around like a crazy person satying busy, getting in to fun trouble on the weekends, and just having lots of fun. BUT, on the inside...I'm just trying to find that happiness that has been missing. On the outside, you would think it was there but on the inside...it's missing. Time to do some searching. Thank you for your post. :) I need to get back to writing.

Today and everyday. I went thrift/junk shopping with my sisters. Driving around, laughing, eating and hoarding. Nothing better for me really.
